Why Drug Test?

Drug testing is effective in preventing drug and alcohol use and is used by business, the criminal justice system, parents, and schools. Drug testing, ideally, is one component of an overall treatment plan to help an individual achieve a healthy and productive life.

Some of the most commonly used drugs tested by TASC include:

  • Amphetamines
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Cocaine
  • Marijuana
  • Opiates
  • Oxycodone

TASC’s complete test menu or list of drugs reflects current drug trends.

Primarily three different types of drug tests are offered at TASC:

Urine testing

Urine testing is the most common to monitor day-to-day drug use and is one of the most customizable. It detects recent drug use including a wide range of drugs and prescription medications. This testing method is currently approved by the U.S. government for federally mandated testing.

Oral Fluid

Oral fluid testing detects very recent drug use in the past 12 to 36 hours. A TASC professional collects saliva with an absorbent device that is placed in the mouth. The test process is quick and tampering with the sample is very difficult.

Hair testing detects drug use over an extended period of time. Head hair samples potentially detect drug use up to 90 days whereas other body hair can potentially detect use over a much longer period of time. At TASC, hair is sampled from three different areas on the crown. The end result is cosmetically undetectable.

Lab Tests Versus Test Kits

TASC provides instant test kits if you and a TASC professional determine this meets your needs. TASC prefers lab-based testing to ensure accurate and comprehensive results. Test kits are limited and do not detect certain drugs.

TASC provides drug testing services for workplaces, criminal justice agencies, parents, and schools.

  • Quality Control & Methodology
    • TASC employees ensure quality control. Our collection sites utilize visually observed, monitored collections, which are a critical component in a valid drug testing program. We document legal accountability with precise chain-of-custody procedures and strictly follow federal and state requirements for confidentiality.

TASC’s testing procedures adhere to the highest standards. We utilize a wide range of state-of-the-art testing methodologies, including initial screening by enzyme immunoassay (EIA) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

All confirmatory testing is performed by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) and Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), which have high levels of specificity and sensitivity and are considered the “gold standard” for drug testing verification.

    • The benefits of having TASC perform specimen collections include:

      Visually Observed

Even though clients know they are being visually observed, some still attempt to circumvent the collection process. For this reason, TASC performs gender-specific specimen collections using only highly trained collection staff.

      Chain of Custody

Strict chain-of-custody procedures are enforced to ensure legally accountable collections are performed.

      Urine, Hair and Oral Fluid

TASC specimen collections are performed by employees certified in each media type.

Each office is designed to optimize sample collections to achieve fast, accurate collection of specimens and to eliminate attempts to adulterate the sample.

All specimen collection staff receive extensive training in customer service, chain-of-custody protocol, specimen collection procedures and adulteration techniques.

    • TASC has many locations for collections. All sites follow TASC detailed collection and chain-of-custody procedures and processes to ensure accuracy and reliability. When samples arrive in the laboratory, results are typically reported within 24 to 48 hours.

    • TASC’s full-service laboratory provides in-house drug testing for multiple media types and test selections. Our highly advanced equipment enables us to quickly address new drug trends and provide customized testing panels specific to our customer’s needs.

All laboratory services are provided by TASC employees, ensuring quality control from collecting the specimen to releasing results. When you use TASC’s drug testing laboratory, you can count on fast, friendly service from knowledgeable technicians and toxicologists. TASC offers:

      • State-of-the-art instrumentation operated by highly trained technical staff

To maintain continuous accreditation, TASC participates in rigorous on-site inspections, annual reviews including quality assurance, continual graded proficiency testing, and provides staff education and training to meet requirements.
