TASC Welcomes Leslie M. Bloom
Leslie Mihata Bloom has joined TASC as director of a new community grant initiative. Ms. Bloom is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the initiative that will award funds to eligible organizations that align with TASC’s mission.
Ms. Bloom previously served as CEO of DrugFreeAZKids.org, the Arizona Affiliate of the national Partnership for Drug-Free Kids for seven years. She worked with Arizona community leaders to establish the national organization’s first local board of directors and was responsible for management, governance, strategic direction, fund raising, program and public awareness strategies. Under her leadership in Arizona, DrugFreeAZKids.org expanded its work with communities statewide, strengthened its online presence, and formed partnerships with healthcare providers, law enforcement and schools.
Prior to her position in Arizona, Ms. Bloom worked for the national Partnership for 12 years in various positions and in 2001 was promoted to senior vice president, director of field operations and Alliances where she led the State/City Alliance Program. The program worked with community partners to develop media and educational community outreach campaigns designed to increase awareness and prevent substance use among children while meeting the unique needs of communities.
Ms. Bloom has been nationally and locally recognized and a featured speaker at conferences. “We are delighted to have Ms. Bloom join the TASC team as she has been a long-time colleague and collaborator of ours and is well suited for this position because of her skills and passion for preventing and reducing substance use,” said CEO Douglas Kramer of TASC.
Ms. Bloom thanks law enforcement for introducing her to the importance of the successful “demand reduction” model – reducing the demand for drugs through enforcement, treatment, and prevention education. Prior to her work at the national Partnership, Ms. Bloom worked in drug prevention at the Phoenix Police Department where she was awarded the prestigious Phoenix City Manager’s award for excellence, and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Prior to this, she was a television news journalist in Phoenix and the state of Oregon.
Ms. Bloom graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication from Oregon State University. She is a member of Arizona Business Leadership and Valley Leadership class XIV.
TASC’s mission is to promote the overall well-being of the community by providing behavioral health services, substance abuse treatment, education, and supportive services.
